A great photo of Mary and Mom. Mom and Mary are 11 years apart in age so I'll let you guess how old they are. The hospice nurse came by today. She is coming by twice a week to check on Mom and take her vital signs. Mom's physical condition has stabilized and the pain meds are doing their job. I think we have the daily care routine down fairly well at this point and the house has been rearranged to make it easier for Mom to get around and for us to care for Mom. Mom felt well enough to sit at the table and have a little spaghetti with Dad and I tonight. She has also been sleeping fairly well at night and only got up once last night.
I am staying until Sunday. Mary will arrive on Saturday and is planning to stay for two weeks. Keith is also planning on coming out for several days. Shari will be out a couple weekends in October and will then spend a whole week here in late October. So we feel comfortable that Mom will have the best care we can give her.
Dear Jeanette and Don, I have been thinking about the two of you quite a bit lately. Little Lucy has Jeanette's catapillar quilt hanging above her crib right now. I hope that you are enjoying being close to your family during this difficult time. I want you both to know your daughter Amy has been a good friend (but a pain in the neck sometimes) to all of us here in Boise. We are really glad you decided to have her and you kept her around. Your legacy will live on in Amy's cooking, craft projects, and in the practical ways she helps her friends and neighbors. Love to all of you....Rick
ReplyDeletePastor and Mrs. Moll-- You are in my thoughts and prayers everyday. I'm so sorry you are going through this--God has a plan much bigger than we can imagine... I hope you have enjoyed having all of your family around! With Love, Kate/Ethan/Logan Brewner
ReplyDeleteDear Jeanette and Don, while I've not had the opportunity to meet either of you in person, I have had the pleasure of being good friends with Amy. It is clear Amy grew up in a household supported by humor - very dry humor, as did I. As a result, Amy is my favorite sparring partner in the battle of quips, jabs, and whit. However, since Amy has an advanced degree, I usually lose. This could be the reason why I'm good friends with Amy and better friends with Billy, who is nicer to me in general, and has never intentionally bludeoned my head with a 9' rafting paddle, as Amy has. If she ever leaves teaching, she has a future in professional golf.
ReplyDeleteDear Jeanette and Don,
ReplyDeleteAlthough we have not met in person, I live here in Boise and have had the opportunity to be friends with Amy and Billy for, gosh, many years now. You have raised an amazing daughter one who I dearly respect. I have had the opportunity to float down the middle fork of the Salmon with her, and she truly is a center of the party. I also get the opportunity to paddle with her husband throughout the season, and can say she married well. They both are truly dear to me and you should be proud to have them both under your wing! I wish you all the best. Drew
Dear Jeanette and Don, we have been thinking about you and your journey a lot. You probably don't know this, but every Fall, the kids dress up the Raggae-Ann doll Jeanette made for Astrid many years ago (8 yrs?)and put her on display as a witch for halloween!. She has been a hit with the neighborhood kids for many years, lit up with LEDs and a home-made hat.
ReplyDeleteWe want you to know Amy has been a great friend to our family, specially to Gloria, her can do attitude is inspiring and she is a great role model for women in science -although sometimes she starts hopeless tasks like teaching (or trying to teach) Gloria how to become computer literate, it took her several tries to post a comment...

For those of you that haven't met Jeanette, her hair looks the same today. It's curly and there's not a bit of gray. Mom always called her hair dishwater blonde - whatever color that is. Mom used to make us matching outfits. Poor Amy got the hand-me-downs, so she wore the same pattern for like 12 years. That's probably why she acts the way she does today. Mom also made us Barbie clothes for our dolls. Imagine the detail.
ReplyDeleteI'd guess Mary is about 9 and mom is 20 in this picture.
Jeanette passion for sewing goes back a long time, as she made my dress in this picture. I can remember standing for hours (or so I thought) while she pinned the hem. It was a very special "church dress".
